About the IELTS for Canada Immigration

You will get score for each part over a Band Scale from 1 to 9. To obtain the maximum 16 points for your English language ability under the Federal Skilled Worker category, you will have to score 7.5 or higher in the Listening part and 6.5 or more in the other 3 parts.

IELTS test results are valid for two years period. IELTS results released within the period of 24 months from the date of an application submission should remain valid all through the process of the application.

Steps for applying

There are certain steps which a potential migrant needs to follow so as to apply for Provincial immigration:

Provincial Nomination Certificate – If one chooses to immigrate to Canada as a provincial nominee he needs to be nominated by the desired province. Once the application is approved the whole process ends with the issuing of the permanent resident visa containing Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and entry visa, by the visa office.

You can speed up the process:

  • Includes all the necessary information and applications

  • Notify the visa office of any changes to your application information

  • Avoid unnecessary inquiries to the visa office

  • Provide copies and documents are legible

  • The provision of documents, you need a certified English or French translation

  • Will come from a country, you are a citizen or permanent resident.

Your application will take longer to process, if the visa office has taken additional steps to evaluate your case. For example, if you need additional steps:


  • Criminal or security problems with the application

  • Your family situation is not clear, because one such as divorce or adoption is not completed, or child custody issues unresolved,

  • In the local visa office has to seek other Citizenship and Immigration Canada offices in Canada or abroad

  • You will need a medical examination.
